Frequently Asked Questions

How long should I practice yoga before doing a teacher training course?

High Yoga requires that applicants have at least 2+ years of consistent asana practice.

How much does a yoga teacher training cost?

Teacher trainings can vary in pricing, often reflecting reputation and experience of the lead teachers, as well as duration and location of the training. Tuition at High Yoga is £3300, or £3100 with the early bird discount, and the course stretches over a period of 4 months in London. Full payment must be received prior to the start of the program unless a payment plan has been established.

What style of yoga does High Yoga School teach?

High Yoga School is a Vinyasa based teacher training. High Yoga’s lineage is derived from the hatha yoga tradition, in particular to Krishnamacharya’s students (B.K.S. Iyengar, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, T.K.V. Desikachar), and later developments in modern postural yoga. The school’s methodology is rooted in the balance between modern research and the deep respect for the philosophical roots of Yoga.

Are payment plans available?

High Yoga School is committed to supporting your journey. We offer convenient and no-fee payment plans. Contact us to discuss your options for monthly plans that will work with your budget.

What are the payment plan T&C’s?

All payment plans need to be agreed and a contract signed before the start of the course. Payment plans are set up on a monthly basis by payee through automated charge to a debit or credit card. All payments need to be paid on the agreed dates. If payment cannot be made on any of the agreed dates, the payee must inform High Yoga 48 hours ahead of the payment date in question, in order to arrange an extension, if deemed appropriate. Failure to meet the terms of the agreement will allow High Yoga to cancel the payee's place on the course, without offering a refund for payments already made. High Yoga reserves the right to report unpaid payment(s) to the credit bureau.

Please note, the tuition must be paid in full prior to receiving the High Yoga Certificate.

Do you offer refunds?

No. In the event that extenuating circumstances arise which prevent you from completing the program, the tuition may be transferred to a future program. An admin fee of £500 is applicable. Please note that this will be assessed case by case, and is up to the discretion of High Yoga School’s lead teachers.

What is the attendance policy?

To obtain a certificate from High Yoga School, you must complete all course hours as well as the written assignments/homework. We understand that unforeseeable circumstances may occur and that you may be unable to cancel personal commitments planned ahead of time. If you know you will miss training hours, private sessions can be scheduled with a lead-teacher (see below).

Who do I notify if I am going to miss training hours?

If you will be late to a training session or have to miss a module, it is imperative that you contact one of the lead teachers via the course WhatsApp Group or via e-mail (highyogaschool@gmail.com) as soon as possible.

For any missed training hours, a make-up session needs to be arranged to review the missed material. These private sessions are not included in the teacher training cost, and would require additional payment. The discounted private rate is £70 per hour, and payment would be made directly to the lead teacher. The maximum number of modules students can miss is two.

What happens if I miss too much course work or am unable to meet the requirements?

If a student is unable to complete all the requirements by the graduation date, we will continue to work with them as appropriate and assist them in completing the program. Please note, depending on the kind of time and training required for the completion of the program, additional fees may apply.

How do I prepare for a yoga teacher training with High Yoga School?

If you haven’t been practicing regularly, we suggest you create a regular practice of a minimum of three hours a week. Begin reading the required course materials, and start learning about the foundations of yoga philosophy.

Is High Yoga registered with Yoga Alliance?

Yes. High Yoga is an active Registered Yoga School (RYS). Our 200 hour training program meets the new (and more uncompromising) standard for curriculum developed by Yoga Alliance. Upon completion of High Yoga’s 200-hour trainings, new teachers can apply to Yoga Alliance for the corresponding registration.

Please note, Yoga Alliance is a separate organisation from High Yoga School. To be a continued member and maintain your registration status with them, you must pay their yearly fees.

What are the benefits of Yoga Alliance Registration?

Registering with Yoga Alliance enhances your credibility as a teacher. Yoga Alliance is a globally recognised credential that helps ensure that yoga students can find experienced instructors and trainings.

What is a RYT 200?

It means “Registered Yoga Teacher 200”. Teachers can register for an RYT 200 if they have successfully completed a 200 hour teacher training program that is registered with Yoga Alliance. All training hours must come from the same school and multiple trainings cannot be combined.

Can I start teaching right after completing the course?

Yes. Upon receiving your certification with High Yoga School, you can begin teaching right away. Our training is designed to make you feel confident to teach one-on-ones, workshops, small groups, or large studio classes. Our course will also cover the business of yoga and how you can get started on your yoga-teacher journey.

I don’t want to teach. Is this course still for me?

Yes. Our course is designed to help you deepen your knowledge of yoga, engage with its wisdom, and apply its teachings in your daily life. You will gain much from the experience, even if you are not looking to teach after the course.
